Four ways. Everything else is a story.

The overtime sheet was still on the fridge when the card declined at the feed store. Same month. Same hours. The household had one engine and a story about next year.

There are four ways money enters a hull.

Labor. You trade time. The ceiling is the week.

Capital. Money works while you sleep. The Keel, if you built it. A fund left alone. Nothing theatrical.

Arbitrage. A priced gap you already know how to close, closed before its date. The neighbor who still pays for a skill you treat as ordinary. The town that has not yet filled that need.

Insurance. Being paid to absorb a risk other people cannot sleep with. Distinct from the policy you buy. The Breakwater is the purchase. This is the watch.

Most houses run Labor and narrate the rest. The narration is the problem. Someday is not Capital. A weekend that made cash once is not Arbitrage if you cannot name when the window shuts. A rider on a phone is not Insurance. It is a fee for the payable.

Engines become something only when they feed. Labor fills the Allotment; the future portion fills the Keel. A closed gap buys hours back or seeds Capital. A premium collected, or a deductible no longer paid, goes to ballast or keel — not back into the same Friday. Insurance bought without a Ballast is a wall with no ground. Capital without a Ballast is a keel you will sell in the first storm.

Count them this week.
